2019 Drs. Anvar and Pari Velji Awards for Global Health Excellence
The Velji Family Foundation annually celebrates global health education, research and service by honoring individuals and projects that demonstrate committed, creative approaches to serving underserved populations. 

Awardees receive
  • Recognition at the 2019 CUGH Conference in Chicago, IL
  • Waived Conference Registration
  • Recognition Plaque
  • USD $750 to support ongoing global health activities

The Young African Leader Award also receives
  • 3 nights at the conference hotel Hilton Chicago Hotel
Award Categories

Velji Student Leader in Global Health
This award honors a student or trainee who has led/created an institution that is having a positive impact on the lives of people in low income settings. Nominees must be a CUGH member, or affiliated with a CUGH member institution.

Velji Faculty Leader in Global Health Innovation *

This award honors a faculty member who has implmented/developed an innovation that is having a positive impact on the lives of people in low-income settings. Nominees must be a CUGH member, or affiliated with a CUGH member institution.

Velji Global Health Education Award
This award honors a faculty member who has a training program for individuals in a low- income setting. Nominees must be a CUGH member, or affiliated with a CUGH member institution.

Velji Young African Leader Award
This award honors an who is: under 35 years on December 31, 2019, born in an African nation, and is currently attending/working in an institution in Africa. The winner has shown exceptional ability and commitment toimproving the wellbeing of individuals in low income settings. This award is open to all - CUGH membership is not required.

Nominations Deadline: October 5, 2018 [extended from September 30]

Memberhip Requirements: CUGH membership is not required to submit a nomination. However, 3 of the 4 categories require the nominee to be a CUGH member, or affiliated with a CUGH Institutional Member.
